Message: I have a Pioneer PL-41, The stock mat has a large diameter hole in the center which fits over a raised center section around the spindle. Which Herbies mat would you recommend?

Webmaster's reply: Because of the abnormally large 120mm-diameter raised ring on the platter, Herbie's Audio Lab does not have a turntable mat appropriate for the PL-41.

Message: Hi what model would fit best for my thorens 160 please ? I ve done lots of looking around and really want to try one of your mats just so many different types out there so hard to know what to get!!! cheers pal

Webmaster's reply: Full-size Way Excellent II-3mm Turntable Mat with 40mm center hole. If you never use the pop-up 45 adapter, a standard center hole works just as well (center hole option is chosen from the Shopping Cart drop-down menu).

Message: what size is most compatible with a lenco l75 with jelco 750d arm and a thorens td 125 with fidelity research fr64fx arm?

Webmaster's reply: A full-size (295mm-diameter) Way Excellent II-4mm Turntable Mat is compatible and ideal for both the Lenco and Thorens turntables. Some of our TD125 customers use a full-size Way Excellent II-3mm mat with excellent results, which is appropriate if your turntable does not suffer too badly with any platter ringing or rumble issues.

Message: How static resistant are your mats? Are they as good as cork in this respect?

Webmaster's reply: Way Excellent II turntable mats are generally inert or neutral to static. People like the way the mats draw lint and dust from the record, keeping them clean (the mat is easily cleaned occasionally just by dabbing gently with masking tape or by wiping with a paper towel lightly misted with anti-static spray, water, or window cleaner). Much better static characteristics than felt or rubber mats. Maybe equivalent to cork in regards to static, though undoubtedly superior to cork in sonic results (cork tends to be sort of thin in the lower mids and inadequate at true isolation of the record from the platter--delivers lots of detail but it's often just staccato-type detail lacking some of the ambient body and life-like feel of the originally recorded event.)
