Message: What remment for a Technics SL 1700 Mat and clamps. Thanks

Webmaster's reply: A 285mm-diameter Way Excellent II-4mm Turntable Mat. Most people find that you don't really need a clamp with Technics direct-drive tables like the SL-1700 using a Way Excellent II mat. A SuperSonic Stabilizer is sometimes beneficial, though.

Webmaster's reply: A full-size Way Excellent II-4mm Turntable Mat.

Message: Would you suggest using the SuperSonic Record Stabilizer along with a
Way Excellent II-2mm on a Rega p5 table?

Webmaster's reply: Most Rega Planar-series tables do superbly with just the Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat, without a need for the Stabilizer. There are exceptions, of course, but I suggest trying the II-2mm mat solo; you'll very likely be more than satisfied with the results.

Message: What size recoment for VPI model classic 3 turntable. Thank you.

Webmaster's reply: Most of our Classic 3 customers use a full-size (295mm-diameter) Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat, with excellent results. (If you're getting audible rumble from the drive motor, however, I recommend a full-size 3.7mm or 4mm version.)

Message: Since nobody's asked about what mat thickness/diameter would be most proper for a Thorens TD-150 Mk 1, I guess it's up to me. Herbie? A little help here, please?

Webmaster's reply: Lots of Thorens suspended-platter turntable owners use a full-size Way Excellent II-3mm Turntable Mat with excellent results. If your table is prone to excessive ringing or rumble though, you might opt for the 4mm.

Message: I have a Ariston RD80. I'm not sure of the diameter inmm. Which mat would you recommend?

Webmaster's reply: I recommend a full-size (295mm diameter) Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat for the RD80. If you cannot adjust VTA/tonearm height, then whichever version is closest in thickness to your present mat would be appropriate.

To verify the dimensions, most rulers have millimeter on one side, and our turntable mat listings also include inch sizes. (There's an inch/mm converter on the Way Excellent II Turntable Mat web page. Or, here's a link to an inch/mm converter: Inch/mm Converter.)

Message: Hello. Need a recommended mat diameter and width for a Harman Kardon T60. This is a suspended table similar to a Linn. It has a 3.3-lb. aluminum platter that is 300mm wide. A 7mm-wide raised lip runs around the outer edge, so the distance between the lips is 286mm. The stock T60 came with a high-density rubber mat with special vibration-absorbing properties. However, my TT did not come with a mat. I tried to obtain one by buying a T45, but its mat was dried and cracked with age. The T45 mat measured 295mm wide in that condition. Which mat do you recommend?

Webmaster's reply: A 285mm-diameter Way Excellent II-4mm Turntable Mat (or version closest in thickness to your present mat) should do very well for you.
