Message: I'm looking for a mat for my Dual 1229Q. Which mat would I want to use, and could I just put it on top of the rubber mat that is on the platter already? My single / multi lever is broken, so I can't turn it off of single.
Also, would the stabilizer be a good investment for this turntable? I don't currently have any sort of record weight.
Webmaster's reply: You might try a Herbie's Donut on top of your present mat. A SuperSonic Record Stabilizer would most likely be beneficial.
Message: I am currently using a grungebuster mat & supersonic record stabilizer on my Music Hall MMF 9.1. Is this combo correct for my application? Also, which mats do you recommend for a Thorens TD-125 MKII and a Pioneer PL-12DII? Thank you.
Webmaster's reply: Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat and grungebuster Turntable Mat both do very well with MMF 9.1 turntables, and either would be correct. Using the SuperSonic Stabilizer is of course optional. Most of our Thorens TD-125 customers use a full-size Way Excellent II-3mm mat, though a 3.7mm or 4mm version is recommended if your platter is prone to ringing. Custom 40mm center hole is available if you use the Thorens 45-RPM pop-up adapter. For a Pioneer PL-12DII, a 285mm-diameter Way Excellent II-4.5mm Turntable Mat is recommended.
Message: what mat size for jvc l-f66
Webmaster's reply: Herbie's Audio Lab recommends a 285mm-diameter Way Excellent II-4mm Turntable Mat for the JVC L-F66.
Message: The Audio Technica AT-LP240 has a raised lip on the platter. The diameter between the lip measures out at 283mm. I'm currently using an old Technics rubber mat that overlaps the lip, and when a record is on top, there is a gap under it from the lip to the spindle, as the mat is angled up at the lip. Is there a mat that would work for the LP240?
Webmaster's reply: Herbie's Audio Lab recommends a 280mm-diameter Way Excellent II-3.7mm Turntable Mat for the Audio Technica AT-LP240.
