Message: Hello--My dealer that I bought my Clearaudio-Concept from doesn't recommend me using a mat on it's Derlin-platter (I just use a weight), however, I've always wanted to try one--would you recommend me using one, or should I stay put? I really don't want to make adjustments to it, besides maybe the tracking-force.

Thanks for any help!

Webmster's reply: We have lots of customers using a Way Excellent II Turntable Mat with Clearaudio Concept players, most of them using a full-size (295mm-diameter) Way Excellent II-3mm Turntable Mat, which I recommend. To use a mat, you'll need to adjust VTA/tonearm height, which is very easy to do with the concept--you just loosen a little set screw at the tonearm base with an allen wrench, raise the tonearm so that the tonearm is parallel to an average-thickness record when in the playing position, then re-tighten the set screw. Being belt-driven, Concept players are sometimes susceptible to some rumble, which the 3mm mat addresses very effectively. You'll probably find that you don't really need to use a record weight or clamp anymore, also.

Message: Friends,

I have many colored and clear vinyl records in my collection but have always been unable to play them on my Onkyo PL-33 turntable. All these years I assumed it was a problem with the turntable even after having it serviced. It was only recently that I discovered that an optional TURNTABLE SHEET, PN# 24509265, TT sheet, was once available. I love my turntable as well as my colored and clear vinyl and have tried unsuccessfully to find one of these sheets. Anyone have any ideas or help for me? PLEASE HELP!!! :(

Thanks in advance,
Mike Langford

Webmaster's reply: If you upgrade to a Way Excellent II Turntable Mat, you'll be able to play clear, colored or any kind of lp. You'll have to use manual keying mode to play a 45rpm record though, because the Way Excellent II mat will cover up the little sensor holes that detect record size (when playing a 12" lp, all the holes are covered). Or, you can just place a piece of opaque tape over each of the six little sensor holes in the platter, then the player will always think that a full-size lp is playing (you'll still have to manually cue for smaller 45rpm records). If you play only lps and not 45's on your player, blocking the sensing holes would never be an issue or problem at all.

Message: Will the mat allow me to use my record clamp?

Webmaster's reply: Most people find that you don't really need to use a clamp any more with a Way Excellent II Turntable Mat. You can surely use a clamp or record weight if you like, however; it's just a matter of personal choice/preference.

Message: Hi! Best mat for a Rega RP6? I don't have a vibration problem that I know of. Would the best choice be Way Excellent II-2.4mm?

Webmaster's reply: Most of our RP6 customers use a full-size (295mm-diameter) Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat with excellent results. Some use a Way Excellent II-2.4mm Turntable Mat, also with excellent results. Of those who have compared the two mats, they've either had no preference between them or preferred the 2mm mat. (The stock felt mat for the Rega RP6 is sometimes a little thicker than standard Rega 2mm mats, at about 2.4mm thick.) Though either would be fine, I recommend the Way Excellent II-2mm Turntable Mat.

Message: Whats the best mat for my Thorens 125 TD?

Webmaster's reply: A full-size Way Excellent II-3mm Turntable Mat is our most popular choice for Thorens TD-125 turntables. If your turntable has particular problems with ringing or severe rumble, a Way Excellent II-4mm mat would be the best choice.
